How to show a backend feature visually for social
Backend work has nothing to screenshot. Here's how to turn an invisible feature into clear marketing images and a narrated video in MarketMee.
Front-end work sells itself: you ship a new screen, grab a screenshot, and you have a post. Backend work is harder. A faster query, a new webhook, a rewritten billing pipeline, a cache that cut response times in half — the value is real, but there is nothing to point a camera at. So most teams never announce it, and customers never learn what got better.
The trick is not to show the code. It's to show the outcome — the thing the change makes possible for the person using your product. MarketMee is built for exactly this: it reads your commits, writes the words, and designs the image or video around the result instead of the implementation. This guide walks through how to do it.
Start with the outcome, not the diff
Before you open MarketMee, name the one thing a customer would care about. "Rewrote the sync worker" is implementation. "Your data now updates in seconds, not minutes" is an outcome. Backend features almost always map to one of a few outcomes:
- Faster — pages load quicker, jobs finish sooner, exports are instant.
- More reliable — fewer failures, automatic retries, no more stuck records.
- Safer — encrypted at rest, scoped permissions, audit trails.
- New capability — a webhook, an API, a limit raised.
Hold that sentence in your head. It becomes the headline and the narration.
Turn it into marketing images
Images are the fastest path, and MarketMee gives you a text box precisely so you can describe work that has no screen.
- Go to Images in the sidebar and click Create image.
- Pick a repo. Choose the repository and branch the change lives on.
- Describe it or pick commits. You have two levers here, and for backend work you usually want both:
- Tick the specific commits behind the feature (up to 20), so MarketMee pulls the real changelog.
- Write a prompt — up to 2,000 characters — that reframes the change as an outcome. Something like: "We rewrote our data sync so dashboards update in seconds instead of minutes. Make the image about speed and freshness, not about queues or workers."
Writing the prompt is the most important step. The commits tell MarketMee what changed; your prompt tells it why anyone should care. That's how an invisible refactor becomes a readable image.
Pick styles that suit abstract work
Under Image & headline styles, choose at least one of each. Backend features are abstract, so lean into styles that carry a concept rather than a UI:
- Image style: Bold, Gradient or Minimal work well when there's no interface to show. UI Preview is better saved for front-end changes.
- Headline style: Tech Update and Feature Spotlight fit improvements and new capabilities; Changelog Recap suits a batch of smaller fixes; Announcement is for the big ones.
Set Number of images from 1 to 8 — more images spread across more styles, so you get variety to choose from. The token cost is shown before you click Generate.
Edit the words until they land
Every MarketMee image is built the same careful way: Claude writes the exact words from your commits, an image model paints them in, and Claude proofreads the result — repainting once if any word came out wrong. If the headline still isn't quite right, open the image and click Apply Edit, then describe the change in plain English, like "make the headline shorter and say 'in seconds'". Each edit is saved as a new version, so you can always step back.
Or narrate it as a short video
When a number tells the story — "2× faster", "99.9% uptime", "zero dropped jobs" — a short narrated video often beats a static image, because you can walk the viewer from the old pain to the new result.
- Go to Video Creator and click New video.
- In the Video brief field, type what the video should say: the key message, the before-and-after, and any exact on-screen text (your headline number, for example). If you'd rather, select the commits and click Draft a brief with AI to generate a first draft from your code, then tidy it.
- Choose a mode:
- Classic builds scene-by-scene layouts with charts, icons and transitions — ideal when you want to show a number growing or a comparison.
- Motion (beta) writes one smooth, continuous animation with a narrator-style voiceover — great for a sleek, conceptual feel when there's no concrete UI.
- Pick a length in the Generate dialog — 15 seconds or 30 seconds is plenty for a single backend win — and generate.
After it's written, review the Preview Scenes. Direct edits to on-screen text, narration and colours are free, so correct the wording freely in the Narration beats panel. Use the Chat panel only for bigger AI changes (those cost tokens). Turn on AI voiceover, pick a Background music mood — corporate or calm suits a reliability story, energetic suits a speed story — then click Render Video. Rendering usually takes 1–3 minutes, and rendering itself costs no tokens.
Ship it to your feed
Once your image or video is ready, click Create Post (from a video) or add your chosen images during composition in Compose. You can keep up to 4 images, or 1 video, per post. Then pick your social accounts and either Publish now, Pick a date and time, or Add to queue so it lands in your next open schedule slot.
If this is a recurring kind of work — say your team ships backend improvements every sprint — set a standing instruction in Autopilot like "Focus on performance and reliability wins, and explain them in plain terms for non-technical customers." MarketMee will keep translating the invisible work into posts while you stay heads-down building.
Backend features are often the most valuable thing you ship all month. With MarketMee at marketmee.app, they don't have to be the quietest.
