Classic vs Motion videos in MarketMee - when to use each

A practical guide to choosing between Classic scene-by-scene videos and Motion continuous animation in MarketMee, with the settings and trade-offs for each.

When you open the Video Creator in MarketMee and start a new video, you hit a fork in the road almost immediately: Classic or Motion. Both turn your commits—or a plain-text brief—into a narrated product video, but they build that video in very different ways. Pick the wrong one and you'll spend extra time editing scenes you didn't want, or wish you had the per-scene control you gave up.

This guide walks through what each mode actually does, the settings that come with it, and a simple way to decide which to reach for on any given announcement.

What Classic mode does

Classic mode builds your video scene by scene. MarketMee writes individual scenes with animations, transitions, charts, icons, images, and sound effects, and it records voiceover per scene. The result is a structured, modular video where every section is its own editable unit.

The big advantage is control. In the Preview Scenes view you can open any single scene and change it without touching the rest of the video. Two kinds of edits are available:

  • Direct edits (free): adjust on-screen text, narration, and colours in the Narration beats panel, plus scene images.
  • AI edits (tokens charged): use the Chat panel to ask for bigger changes to one scene or the whole video, like "make the intro more upbeat."

Classic is also the only mode that supports sound effects. If you want punchy transitions, little audio cues, or a more produced feel, those are Classic-only (and billed at render time).

Reach for Classic when:

  • You have a multi-part feature and want each point to land as its own scene.
  • You need to fine-tune specific moments—exact on-screen text, a particular chart, a precise colour.
  • Sound effects matter to the feel of the video.
  • You expect to iterate scene by scene rather than regenerate the whole thing.

What Motion mode does

Motion mode, the default for new videos, takes the opposite approach: instead of discrete scenes, MarketMee writes one smooth, continuous animation. Claude writes the animation itself—fluid, cinematic motion graphics—and the voiceover flows like a real narrator across 3–5 narrated beats rather than being chopped up scene by scene.

Because it's continuous, there are fewer individual scenes to edit, and the whole thing feels more cohesive. You trade some granular control for a more polished, flowing result that's well suited to short social clips where momentum matters.

One thing to note: sound effects are Classic-only, so Motion videos rely on voiceover and background music for their audio. Everything else—AI voiceover, background music moods, direct edits, and version history—works the same across both modes.

Reach for Motion when:

  • You want a single cohesive narrative rather than distinct chapters.
  • You're announcing one feature or idea and want it to feel cinematic.
  • You'd rather not manage a long list of scenes.
  • You're posting to feeds where fluid motion tends to stop the scroll.

The settings that stay the same either way

Whichever mode you pick, a lot of the workflow is identical, so switching between them isn't a big leap:

  1. Go to Video Creator and click New video (or open an existing project).
  2. Add a video brief: type your key messages, features, and exact on-screen text in the Video brief field, or click Draft a brief with AI to generate one from your code.
  3. Optionally select a repository, branch, and specific commits—or just describe the feature in text.
  4. Choose your mode, then click Generate video plan (Classic) or Generate animation (Motion).

After generation, both modes give you:

  • Direct edits (free) to on-screen text, narration, and colours.
  • AI edits (tokens charged) through the Chat panel.
  • AI voiceover, on by default and billed at render time.
  • Background music: pick a mood—corporate, energetic, calm, dramatic, or playful—or describe one in your own words.
  • Full version history: every generated version and every edit is saved, and you can restore any version with one click.

Both modes also support all three video formats: Horizontal (1920×1080), Square (1080×1080), and Vertical (1080×1920). So your choice of Classic vs Motion is independent of where the video will end up—pick the aspect ratio that fits the platform, and the mode that fits the story.

Rendering and cost

When you're happy with the preview, click Render Video to produce the final MP4. Voiceover and music are added during render, and tokens are charged then. Rendering typically takes 1–3 minutes. Direct edits cost nothing; the token charges come from AI edits, voiceover, background music, and (for Classic) sound effects. As always in MarketMee, the token cost is shown before you commit, and failed generations refund their tokens automatically.

A quick way to decide

If you're still unsure, use this shortcut:

  • Multiple distinct points, lots of precise editing, or sound effects? Use Classic.
  • One clear story, a cohesive cinematic feel, minimal scene management? Use Motion.

And because full version history is saved either way, the decision is low-stakes. You can generate a Motion animation, decide it needs more structure, and start a Classic version in the same project—nothing you've made is lost.

Once a video is rendered, you can download the MP4 or click Create Post to turn it into a social post with an AI-written caption, then add it to your queue or schedule it alongside your other content.

Want to see the difference for yourself? Open the Video Creator at marketmee.app, generate the same brief once in each mode, and compare the previews side by side. A few minutes of experimenting will tell you more than any rule of thumb—and both versions stay in your version history for next time.
